Once Upon A Closet Offers Select Consignments
Buying a consignment clothing shop was a dream come true for Jo DeSantis.
She had been going to resale shops for over twenty years, which surely made her a knowledgeable consumer in the business.
So, when the opportunity came a few years ago to buy the Once Upon A Closet shop, Jo jumped at the opportunity. Instead of being just a shopper of good bargains in clothing, she could own the place, too.
"I love resale shops," she said. "I've been going to them for so long that when this shop became available, I thought, 'I could do very well in this business.'"
In fact, Once Upon A Closet has done very well since she took over. Sales more than doubled. A few months ago, Jo moved the shop to a bigger location on the North Loop at Cherokee Street.
You should see this shop! There are racks upon racks of clothing for women. Good quality merchandise that's for sale at a fraction of its original price.
It's not just designer clothes, either.
"We have clothes you can wash, middle-of-the-road clothing as well as designer," Jo said. "In fact, a lot of woman don't have the time these days to plan and care for wardrobe."
"Many women want clothing that they can jump into and go," she said.
Her shop is geared to help the busy women of today.
"We have the inventory to help," she said. "I have a very helpful staff that's ready to help, but we invite people to come in and just browse, too."
The staff will help with wardrobe planning, if requested, and no appointment is necessary.
Besides the clothing mentioned, Once Upon A Closet also sells distinctive "after five' clothing. Evening gowns, jackets and skirts are also for sale at a fraction of their original price.
