Cobb County holds youth
sports festival for parents and kids

Cobb County will host a youth sports festival at Jim R. Miller Park this Saturday, Aug. 11.

The event, which lasts from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature interactive games, mascots from area professional and college teams, prizes and refreshments. The $5 entry fee per family also enrolls the family in the Parent Association for Youth Sports.

The organization is designed to educate and motivate parents whose children are playing youth league sports. An informational 15-minute video clinic for the parents will be offered every hour during the event.

"This is just to give them the fundamental exposure and what to expect from youth sports and how to make it more beneficial for their child," organizer Terrence Ramsey said.

Games will include quarterback toss, baseball and basketball events. Players and mascots from the Falcons, Hawks, Thrashers and the Atlanta Beat are among those scheduled to attend. Season tickets and T-shirts are among the prizes.
